James, in order to use the CFP marks, you have to meet ALL of the requirements. So that means you have to pass the exam, gain the experience (if you don't already have it) and get your four year degree (again, if you don't already have it). There is a one time three year extension available if needed for the education or experience. Now for the ChFC designation you do NOT need a four year degree. You just need to pass an additional course, assuming you have completed the CFP educations. And you need the experience. So, that is something to consider in the interim.

Hi James,
Unfortunately I believe it's the former and not the latter.
You cannot use the marks until you the Board accepts your degree.

If you have passed the CFP exam, and you don't have a degree, I understand you have 5 years to get the degree.... Does that mean you can't use the CFP designation until you have a degree, or does it mean you have to stop using the designation if you haven't receieved the degree within 5 years?
