Handling Stress Head of the Exam

You’re in the midst of finding every minute you can to study for the upcoming exam. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you try to manage the study crunch and the stress that comes with preparing for any big event.

  1. Have a plan and follow it – You knew how you wanted to prepare for the exam – the number of hours you needed to study and where you would find that time – and you laid out a plan. Have faith in your planning and stick to your basic study plan, tweaking as necessary.
  1. Plan your exam day – Drive to the testing location. Sign up for a “test drive” offered by Prometric. Know what you need to bring with you on exam day and what will be provided. Be sure you know the testing center’s calculator policy.
  1. Maintain your physical health – It’s tempting to sideline your exercise routine or limit other stress outlets in order to squeeze in a bit more study time. But your energy and focus will be better if you fit in some exercise, get enough sleep, and maintain a healthy diet as you approach exam day.
  1. Stay calm – In the words of one exam taker, “The last word of advice is CALM DOWN. It’s amazing what happens when you psyche yourself out. The test wasn’t any more or less difficult than all the mock exams I had been taking.”
